I was recently in Las Vegas for Mrs. America and Miss for America’s to watch my Texas, Oklahoma, and California Sister Queens, along with my little pageant sister from my year as Mrs. International, Kelsey whom won the Florida Miss title to compete.
All the girls did so great! My hubby and I went to watch the Miss and cheer on my girls and little Sparkle Sister with pride! Kelsey, actually placed runner up and now I know what it feels like to be a proud big sis’. After traveling a whole year together and getting to know her, Kelsey is like family to my boys and I so it was an honor to watch her do her thing, and do it so well!
It was great to see the quality of the contestants and so many in the Miss division for the very first year. The emcee was amazing and it really was a great show, both of them were. Having the honor of gracing the Mrs. America stage, with Texas across my chest, not only once but TWICE I know what it’s like to be on that stage and I have to say I really enjoy watching the show now without all the crazy pageant nerves of competing! ;)-
I enjoy seeing the creative costumes every year from each state, seeing one lucky girls crowning each night, but most importantly watching and cheering on fellow SPARKLE Sisters that I previously competing with like Shannon Ford, Florida this year, we competed 8 yrs ago together in Mrs. United States 2011, Way to go to Shannon! It’s so nice to see the Sparkle Sisters I’ve met through out my journey continue to SPARKLE! ✨
Saturday, I also attended and got to sit with Kelsey and my Texas Team as we routed for our Mrs. girls! They all did SO great, I was proud of each one of them, especially our Cali Girl, Shelby, whom placed 2nd Runner Up! Gosh, I got so excited for her answering her questions my cheering almost interrupted her answer lol. I was so happy for her, to see how genuinely excited she was to be up in that 3 was priceless!
Congratulations to the Nevada Team and the gorgeous new Mrs. America, and the Tennessee Team with the stunning new first ever Miss of America’s! Beautiful girls, I’m excited to follow their journey’s.
Besides Mrs. America, my husband and I were also there with a group of friends for a friend’s 40th Birthday! So when I wasn’t at the shows I was hanging with my crew pool side, at The Spa at The Waldrof (which is freaking AMAZING BTW!! If you ever want a great Vegas spa it’s the previously world renowned Mandarin Oriental and it’s still Fab!!), at dinners, and on the tables at The Aria.
I love Vegas, but I do Vegas chill-style. Spa, Shop, Cabana, Nice Dinners, and The Tables off course! 😉 I love to gamble and my husband hates it! ;)-
“So your saying I have a chance to win?” Lol
If it’s games and I have a chance, even though my odds are HORRIBLE of winning … and winning money! Ummm yesss. Lol. My poor hubby.
I don’t go crazy though, I work hard for my money so I don’t want it to go to the casinos electricity bill. I want it back in my pocket and doubled of course, like everyone else right?! ;)-
We had a lot of fun and a lot of laughs over the long weekend and Sunday we decided do an heavy late lunch at one of our fav lunch spots MuMuFukku in Cosmo, and then hit the tables back at Aria on the way back to Waldrof.
We all had super early flights Monday morning and we knew it would be an early night so we got to the tables early! I was winning at Roulette all weekend, winning at War (yes I like war it’s perfect for my ADD 😜). I was dying to learn craps though and what better time to learn than a Sunday afternoon when it’s not super busy!
Which brings me to my blog topic today…
Don’t let anyone ever try and place you!
My friend was going to teach me craps, I would follow his lead until I caught on. So we found a table and I was ready for some fun…
I was having a great time learning, and holy cow there’s so much going on and it goes so fast, there are so many different bets going on at the same time, if your new it’s hard to keep up until you figure out what all the bets mean. I was trying. Whatever I was doing I was winning! Winning well too might I add.
I was rolling, I was winning, my friends were all playing too, we were having a great time. UNTIL the change of dealer! Oh boy did things turn, not in winning but in my spirit.
At craps there’s about 4 dealers working the table, this change of dealers consisted of one woman. One woman hater. One woman that seemed to hate on other women, especially if you remotely half way look decent!
I don’t know if she was just having a bad day and wanted to take it out on me… but she picked the wrong girl!
She could tell I was a newbie trying to learn but I was winning big, my friends were all helping me as well.
“That’s what happens when your pretty, they don’t make them smart too”.
“What does she need a calculator to count her chips, or , hey Blondie let your buddy do the stuff that requires thinking.”
It went on and on and for about 30 minutes. I’d laugh it off, not pay attention because after all I’m the one with black and purple chips in my pocket not her, right? 😉
I was on a roll and she was on her own … with me as her target.
The little hidden joke/cuts weren’t stopping and I really couldn’t believe how someone would comment to a complete stranger. All I kept thinking in my head is, you can sure tell how she feels about herself inside.
“Good thing your pretty” “At least a Daddy can take care of you….”
I had enough.
My husband was actually sitting behind me at the time resting his feet (and his ears) with another friend until he saw my face… By the looks of his face, He could tell my inner Detroit was about to reveal, I’d been pushed to far.
“No honey, I don’t have a daddy. Don’t let these looks fool you Sister. I’m smarter than I look.” She gives me a look as if what if, “I have 3 businesses, successful I might add, myself. I don’t need daddy. “As I’m rolling and racking them in with each comment. “You see I’m a boss babe, that’s not threatened by other women and Although I may not have a PhD or as smart as you think I look, I’m a mom, a wife, and more! So why don’t you keep your insecure comments to yourself while I continue to take your money.”
I just won big at that moment in more than one way and it was perfect timing. I won a bet on the table that was the worst odds and paid big.
“I’m not “bimbo girl”, I’m a hustler. I bought my own handbag Thank You, and I think I may just go buy another now, Thank You.” With the help of a little liquid courage I shut her off.
Perfect timing… dealer change!!
You can tell my husband was about to go and report her to the pit boss until he came over and apologized after another wife of another better had already had enough of her too, for me.
I continued to play, win, my friends were back on winning and we were having a blast. UP until another 30 minutes lol and dealer change again. Not sure if her pit boss talked to her or I set her straight. I wasn’t going to let her place me again.
I was about to cash out and go about my way, until her mood completely shifted. It was like I gained her respect all of a sudden. For what, I don’t know… and you can tell she was being super nice to me, my hubby “you got a great wife there” and my friends. “Your just as lucky as she seems to be” Then she started asking me questions like “Blondie, you have kids?” “yea, good for you” “How long you all been married?” “and he still checks you out like that!” “You go girl”.
Now that’s how a girl should treat another girl, respectfully. It’s not like I was dressed inappropriately or what could have gave her some kind of impression of me. I’m not sure. I was in a MQB romper on a Sunday and it was only 5pm. I have no idea what her issue was with me, but it was over once I stopped LETTING HER PLACE ME.
Queens, don’t ever let someone place you, ever! Only you have the power to do that or label yourself. No one else. No one.
I normally take the high road and I think if all those chips were not laying in front of me, I may have walked away. BUT if I would’ve walked away, I’m sure she would’ve done the exact same thing to the next Little Blondie that came to her table for who knows what or why. So I stopped it. Glad I did.
Shortly after I cashed in and cashed out and left a winner I feel in more than one way.
We flew home and that following day I was at Costco preparing for The big Labor Day Weekend at the Lake. Do you know how at Costco they have those people at the doors that check your receipts to make sure everything is accounted for in your basket? Yes, well this one was a another one of those women on women haters. Maybe I caught her on her bad day too. I don’t know. The guy in front of me was checking out the two huge carts she just looks at his receipt instantly puts a 🙂 and checks it off and let’s him go on his way. I have maybe seven items in my cart. Water, Gatorade, paper plates, Champagne, And 2 pre-made lunch trays. Yes, not like you have to dig to see or count my items.
She kept me there reading every single one, every single line, and was like “wait” and started again, and again. Rolling my eyes internally I politely waited. It was so freaking obvious. Then asks to see my card again as I was leaving. They check your card when you come into the store and at the register, never when you leave.
Ahhh… so pathetic and so obvious. She finally puts a check mark with an attitude and let’s me go. I waited at the entrance after to see how she responded to the woman leaving behind me with an overflowing probably 30+ item cart and she again like the man, barely glances and signs and checks and not even a stop of the step. *eye-roll
Queens don’t be a lady hater. A woman hater. It’s just not cool. No one likes it and it’s so obvious. It says more about individual insecurities when women hate on each other for absolutely no reason.
That dealer should’ve been routing for the only girl at the table, the checker should’ve seen my cart instead of my appearance.
Don’t hate, but also never LET Anyone place you, ever!
Sometimes I’m glad I speak up for myself and my own, this was one of those times!
Happy Monday MomQueens!
