Last week I shared what seemed to be a very popular blog…
How Pageantry has affected my family.
This week I wanted to share something that stems from the effects that pageantry has had on ME and my family, which really has been the greatest award in my SPARKLE journey… Growth!
GROWING INTO YOUR SPARKLE
Whether it be personal growth, watching a sparkle sister grow, or having your kiddos grow by learning a valuable lesson through you in your life in the sparkle world. Pageantry is filled with growth. It far outshines any sparkly crown any one of us receive. It’s our true prize.
We grow internal strength every time we put ourselves out there for someone to judge, we grow sportsmanship when we lose, we grow confidence when we step on stage, we grow humble giving ourselves to others and to our platforms, the list of the MANY ways a sparkle girl grows from the pageant world is endless!
But one of the most important ways is watching the impact our own SPARKLE can have on a Sparkle sister. Taking ourselves out of the equation. Sometimes we’re simply SPARKLING so our sister’s sparkle can reflect off ours to shine a little brighter. When we realize it’s not all about us. When we can open ourselves up enough to each other to truly support and lift the girl next to you, even if that means you losing, that’s when we grow!
When you think about it, Sparkle Sisters are inspired by another, we lift another, and we all have a lot more in common than what we think. After all, we have a lot of the same interests to be in the pageant world together. IF we cut the negative aspects that come with competition, we open a vulnerability within ourselves that really IS the most beautiful thing about the SPARKLE WORLD. Women empowering women.
Think about it: the pageant world is a world that women compete against other women and yet can still support each other like sisters! Heck, I think ALL women should join the SPARKLE WORLD because of this! We can ALL use a little more empathy, kindness and respect towards each other instead of quickly judging or negatively competing with one another. The world has enough negative competition in it, heck just in raising kids there is enough negative women to women competition you can witness just in the carpool line than you would see on a pagenat stage! Who’s “THE BEST” mom, who’s kid can do this whos kid did that. (Barf!) lol! But No joke! (You know you moms out there are shaking your head, Ummm, yep, uh-huh!) ;)- We can all learn something very valuable from the SPARKLE world and that’s how to grow individually and how we can inspire to empower another.
For example, I didn’t start being so successful until my growth. When I realized it wasn’t about me. When I started working out just for my health and happiness instead of competition. When I was living my platform day in day out regardless if there was a pageant ahead or for a simple Instagram pic to post. When I achieved success in my own personal career or accomplishments that I didn’t need to be crowned to realize I was already a winner! When I grew and realized that my husband and family love me enough that I DON’T NEED everyone to love me, I’m completely comfortable not being everyone’s “cup of tea”. When I DIDN’T NEED OR CARE about winning, is when I GREW my SPARKLE.
Last weeks blog I shared how I grew personally from the negative effects of pageantry from my teens to now, that it taught me some very valuable lessons of growth. I also shared that there have been numerous times that I’ve been the target of those negative aspects of competition. Well, now I’d like to share a moment of growth from this week that is very humbling and inspiring, I feel it’s important for all you SPARKLE Sisters reading this to hear.
This past weekend one of those Sparkle Sisters that targeted me negatively in the past apologized to me. As much as I was caught off guard, I wasn’t proud or honored that she apologized. I was more moved than anything. She even offered me one of the most thoughtful olive branches as forgiveness and as some inspiration.
Now a sincere apology means a lot to me. I don’t take it lightly. I think when someone sincerely apologies it shows vulnerable and honest growth. The growth we all can learn from, myself included. Growth that I respect and admire. It takes a big person to admit their faults, heck I’m the farthest from perfect! I’ve made a GAZILLION mistakes! Made me think of a million things I myself could apologize for to the gazillion people I needed to learn from.
But witnessing the growth that’s what I was more genuinely thankful for. That means things have come a long way, for each of us. BUT not growth JUST for her, this is one of those moments that if take myself out of the picture and think about it, that maybe I was there for someones else’s growth. That made me feel thankful, not because of the apology, but for the growth. Maybe having a small piece in the growth of a fellow sparkle sister. Maybe I was just the mirror needed for her to grow more into her own SPARKLE to shine a little brighter. Now that’s growth… in me!
Nothing to gain, but growth. WE grow in SO MANY WAYS in the SPARKLE world but one of the greatest things to watch is how WE OURSELVES INCREASE OUR INTERNAL SPARKLE BY GROWING AND HOW WE CAN WATCH AND BE EMPOWERED BY THE GROWTH OF A SISTER QUEENS SPARKLE !
Hope this little experience can maybe help reflect on a time you grew most in SPARKLE world. Have these positive moments keep reminding you of how you’ve grown and how much more growth there can be in our journeys. All these ups and downs is the greatest thing of the pageant world, it helps you GROW MORE AND MORE INTO YOUR OWN SPARKLE!
Happy Wednesday Mom Queens!
