A little Sunday Sparkle …
In today’s social media driven world and especially in the SPARKLE light of the pageant world, there is one negative aspect, criticism.
Now I’ve got some thick skin, I’ve been through allot to make me the strong person I am, what’s that phrase “I love the woman I’ve become because I FOUGHT to become her.” Yea, exactly. This sums me up. This mindset is exactly how I’ve gotten through the critique of the pageant world, and of life.
You see, how I handle criticism…
I bottle it up, shake it up, and throw it over my shoulder. There’s times I wanted to take that shaker and throw it at the glass house that created it’s weighted rocks. But I don’t. I am a mom, a wife, and I have worked very hard to be who and where I am. My husband also encourages me to NEVER stoop to that level. He is ALWAYS 100% right. Because two things come from criticism.
First, Criticism comes from how one feels about THEMSELVES NOT their target. There’s something missing in their own life that makes them have the TIME to care to try and pick another apart. Criticism brings out a critics OWN insecurities.
Secondly, Karma always wins, truth ALWAYS prevails. That’s the way the universe goes. No one can stop that, it’s the way the world works. Because of this you never have to justify someone picking apart another negatively, the world has a way of turning that around and humbling their thoughts. So let it go.
Being in the sparkle world for a long time, breaking some barriers, competing in arenas that CHALLANGE me is what I enjoy. I’m never going to take the easy route, that’s just me. So I have gotten ALLOT of heat in my days, I mean allot! I’ve had my fair share of criticism, funny thing it comes from people that really didn’t even know me. So what does that say about them? Now, don’t let this fool you, I’m NOT a push over, I can be a VERY pretty blunt and I am very honest. So yes there were times, I really wanted to give some a REAL dose of their own reality. But I KNOW my worth and value. There is no need. Never stoop that low remember. Instead I turned THEIR negative into a POSITIVE for ME.
I get allot of girls asking for my advice on what system or competing in general, especially Mrs. When listening to their thoughts, MOST of their concerns come from what others think, another’s judgment or criticism! Makes me sad. So for the SPARKLE sister debating on jumping. I wanted to share a few things I’ve done that’s worked as reminders and tools to surpass this negative aspect. Because YOUR decision only has to make YOU and YOUR FAMILY proud. Not the peanut gallery. Noise will always be there, let the noise look ridiculous, not you.
Here are a few things that have worked for me in the past:
- Use it as FUEL
- Surround yourself with friends that support you and bring out the best in YOU, NOT the faults in others.
- Accept that you will not be everyone’s “cup of tea” and that is PERFECTLY OK.
- Stay in your lane
- Prioritize what’s TRULY important and keep your focus there.
- Let YOUR success BE your judge
- Judgment is JEALOUSY and jealousy is an ugly look on anyone
- Be SO busy working SO hard on crushing your OWN goals you can’t hear noise
- If people ask if you want to KNOW about noise or criticism if you yourself haven’t heard it, just say NO. Remember your too busy for that.
- Crush it
I’ve won allot of titles in my journey through the SPARKLE world. Reality is I’ve lost more than I won but If I ever listened to anyone’s negative criticism about me or what I’m doing in MY life… I wouldn’t be where I am, in real life. The stuff that matters. Success and happiness in what TRULY matters.
As we all begin our goals for 2019, I hope these tips can help remind you to never let anyone dim your light, and SPARKLE ON SISTER!
