I wanted to share a little inside look into my holiday decorations for a little bit of Spice!
Not going to lie… I started decorating November 1st! I know, I know, I know… “What about Thanksgiving?”
We of course celebrate Thanksgiving, but at my Mother-In-Laws. Our Thanksgiving is HUGE, complete with a hayride! I’ll be sharing more about it Friday!
So my answer: I do not host Thanksgiving at my house, but I DO host CHRISTMAS the VERY next morning! For my parents to share with my boys while their in town. So instead of Black Friday sales, we’re ripping open with Nana & Papa.
Every mom and wife, reading this blog, YOU know how hard it can be balancing AND making happy all sides of his and your extended family. Right? The struggle is REAL!
My parents are unable to come for Christmas, because we do have to share them, so we share in the opening and celebration the day after Thanksgiving with them in person while they are in town. It FEELS nice when its decorated the part. Plus, not to mention, my schedule is crazy! I want to ENJOY the holiday season. NOT run around like a mad woman, so I get everything done the two weeks before Thanksgiving, it saves allot of hustle and bustle!
I have a total of 3 inside trees:
Our main tree: It’a a 12′ Pre-lit I got for a steal from a Hobby Lobby Black Friday Sale 2 yrs ago. My decor is white, so I keep the theme going with white and clear bulbs. ALL different shapes and sizes, but I add white flowers and beads fillers (that you get from hobby lobby to put in wreaths). It really adds allot of fullness and balances the bulbs.
Our family tree that I ABSOLUTELY love putting up! It’s currently in our main hall in between the foyer and formal dining. I love that it is full of every ornament the kids have made me, our first wedding ornaments, ornaments from when I was a baby, and the ones I’ve collected over the years through our travels. It brings back so many memories putting this tree up. This is a 6′ thin tree my girlfriend was going to trash when she was moving, I was helping her move, and moved it right into my truck! 😉 She had pink lights on it at the time for her boutique, I don’t think the hubby would go for the pink, so I swapped out the lights and Bam! Free tree!
Then the kids Tree. It’s VERY colorful and most of the bulbs are hung in ONE section of the tree (because the boys decorate it) but I love it because its theirs. The coolest part of this tree is the topper! That star was my great- great- grandmothers! Yes it has to be over 60 yrs old! My mom had it on our tree when I was a kid and my grandmother had it on hers. It spins stars on the ceiling like a disco ball! I still love it and now my boys do! I especially enjoy how it sits on this tree, slanted! Fits the boys perfectly! 😉 Again this another 6ft from my girlfriends move that moved itself right into my garage! Friends are the best!
Then I have garland around the house to tie in the lights and white decor with the same fillers in the main tree. I love at night when the house sparkles! What girl or kid doesn’t love the twinkle of christmas lights? Here you can see the white floral fillers a little clearer to get the idea. Really gives the garland a custom finished touch.
The rest of the home is filled with allot of white Christmas decor I either picked up at Home Goods or Hobby Lobby.
I’m a huge fan of repurposing items! Like this Christmas table runner is the wedding shawl my mom made me. Genius, right?! I was hoping I would get some more use of that somehow (Sorry mom).
Most importantly I wanted to share my COOLEST discovery of this year when it comes to holiday decor! These little wireless gadgets I’m in LOVE with! I can control my Christmas Lights outside and inside through wireless! Now I have one operated with Alexa! “Alexa, turn the christmas tree on” or when I’m not home be able to turn it off and on through the app, Genius!
I was sharing this incredible find while my alarm company was installing my new set up, the installer then told me they had electrical switches and plugs they have available! By the next day, I was turning my outside christmas lights, the trees, my flood lights, and more on and off through little switches and plug-ins like this! ALL controlled through an app! It makes it so easy and convenient. Check them out!
There you have it, an inside look in my home for the holidays and my coolest holiday gadget find!
Happy Turkey Week!
