Rewards make everything more gratifying!
It’s so true when you work hard for something and you are rewarded, you appreciate it 100 times more!
For instance, this is EXACTLY why I DON’T clean my own house! ;)- Kidding, but NOT kidding!
I have boys and would spend hours and hours picking and cleaning to perfection, and the minute they make a mess I would FREAK out!
Not lying, not kidding, I would freak out! I know myself to well and if I spent my hours cleaning my house spotless and they were to walk in as they always do and leave a trail from shoes to water bottles or not pick up the toilet seat! I would go freaking bananas! Period!
I know myself better than that so, therefore, I chooseto leave that for the bi-weekly professionals! ;)-
BUT for working hard, I have to reward myself and wanted to share this with you, Queens.
I’ve done this before for growing my properties when I started. I first said if I could get and manage a dozen, I would reward myself with … then it got to 20… then 30, then yada, yada, yada.
Since November, when I started buying for and setting up inventory for Mom Queen Boutique, I have never once rewarded myself. I wanted it so bad and wanted it to succeed that I never set rewards for myself. I set goals, but not rewards.
Every penny is budgeted, and every dollar and piece is recorded precisely. My CPA’s LOVE my OCD! Makes their jobs easier! 😉
Every dollar for the past ten months I have made through MQB has been put right BACK into Mom Queen Boutique for more inventory and to keep growing.
This is what happens when you start a business. You must do what it takes right? Right!
I love this Boutique Owner life, and since I started, it’s slowly growing! It’s Growing, and it makes me SO happy!
A lot of late night and early mornings…
People think owning a boutique is easy, pshhh!!! Umm no! The research I put into my picks, suppliers, pricing, decisions, styles, inventory, shipping, recording, lives, marketing, etc. involves a lot of endless up-all-night hours. But I don’t mind it, I enjoy it!
Every week I do a Thursday Night FB Live @7:30 Central in my little private group for my Queens and let me tell you… I prepare inventory the entireday, I plan new arrivals weeksahead of time, and I’m up invoicing until at least 2 am every Thursday. I also wake early to spend most of my “FRI-YAY” ‘s Shipping, so my Queens get their new fashions, fashionably fast! 😉
It’s a lot of hard work from one girl, so after ten months and asking my CPA if I’m “allowed” too, I decided to TREAT myself for the first time. 😉
Since I moved into my house, I’ve always wanted a new back porch couch set. Let’s face it my last outdoor furniture I had bought two houses ago when I was putting in my first pool when I was pregnant with my first son! Ladies, that was over 11 freaking years ago! It was time!
Now don’t get me wrong I really have had no excuse why I haven’t replaced it in the last 11 YEARS! Every time I go out, at all the 3 houses it’s been at, I would sit on a chair or love seat and think to myself, ” Gosh I need new backyard furniture!” Every time! Then the kids would want a new toy, the hubby would want something for the lake, or it would be winter, and I’d think why now! Every time I’d make an excuse or put it off and put something in front of its priority.
Until three weeks ago, I just finished invoicing with my SECOND LIVE of the week, and I went to let the dogs out before bed exhausted and sat down on a chair… and fell right on my *SS!
Not kidding. It was time.
That’s it. Lol without consulting the hubs I went online and clicked BUY!
WTH, I was going to treat myself! Between my day job, the kids, MQ, and working on my book all year, I said to myself and thought, “Mel, you DESERVE it” get it!
If the CPA suggests otherwise, we’ll convince “Mr. No” in the morning that you wanted an early anniversary gift.
Just screw it, I’ll figure it, BUT I’ll figure it out comfortably on my new couch as I sit with a glass of wine on my back patio! ;)-lol
I did it. I was going to treat myself! I asked the CPA’s if I’m allowed to treat or pay myself one small reward and when they said “well yes of course” I explained to “Mr. we don’t need new outdoor patio furniture” that for my endless night’s of hard work MQB was going to treat me to new patio furniture for my outdoor fireplace so I can relax and enjoy my wine nights out there this fall. 😉
My hubby, the excellent supporter he is first wanted to make sure I did things right by our advisors for the books and said: “you deserve it.”
I wasn’t expecting that answer 😉
I also wasn’t expecting my couch to come in 7 different FREAKING boxes for JUST LITTLE ME and my non-furniture assembly impatient self to put together!
Oh boy! 😳
The moment you realize this is taking forever:/
Because I didn’t want to pay the CRAZY amount patio couches are and was only comfortable paying what I thought fair … yep! It was me putting it together. Plus, I didn’t want comments from my peanut gallery, so I did it!
It may have taken 2 weeks, but 7 boxes all assembled JUST by me paid for by my efforts…
I rewarded myself!
As my boys are swimming in the pool or after the long nights of shipping and invoicing, I sit on my porch in my “spot” and smile!
We ALL have to have rewards! We have to reward ourselves! How ever we most feel like it! For ourselves!
I just got back from Vegas for a friends 40th, and attended Mrs. America. Watching girls put months into their fitness regimen to prepare for that one night on stage treat themselves after with FINALLY a well deserved desert or piece of pizza, or what ever their stomachs craved at the time! Rewards! Rewards are nice to see and nice to feel! They make the goal more gratifying!
Next, I’m thinking I may want to reward myself with one of those lounges I’m laying on in the photo above from Vegas! All I kept thinking of when sitting on it is: how in the heck did they put this together? I don’t see any screws! Lol
We work hard for things wether it be in our careers, passions, hobbies, families, what have you. We work hard to obtain certain goals… but what’s a goal without having a reward when achieving it?
Even though I thought rewarding myself with a new patio set was THE reward itself, Putting this couch together I think Deserves another reward for my impatient self… like a glass of wine tonight when I get home from work and sit on it! 😉 lol
Queens, Whatever your current goals are make sure you set rewards at meaningful moments along the way of achieving them!
Rewarding yourself and celebrating your accomplishments makes it more gratifying and sweeter with that sense of accomplishment. It says to YOU, “You did it!”
Every Time I sit on this couch I’m going to think “Your doing it girl!”. It silently tells me “keep it up Mel” and it reminds me of the moment I convinced myself that:
“You deserve it, girl!”
Next week is my “back to gym” week. It’s going to be tough, so this weekend I’m going to try and make specific rewards when achieving my small successes of getting back on track to my fitness journey.
For instance maybe a reward for working out 4-5 days a week consecutively for 6 months, or a reward for my first 10K, or a reward for my first weight check in to half of my goal. I’m not sure what rewards they’ll be but I’m going to write them down and decide NOW and hope it makes the challenge a little easier, and a lot more gratifying when sticking to them!
If your working toward a specific goal QUEENS wether that be just making it to 5pm some days without losing your mind… don’t forget to reward yourself for your efforts,
becauseYOU deserve it girl!
Happy Tuesday, Mom Queens!
